Bernstein Piano Award for young pianists
The 2015 Junior Regional Event starts this weekend where 24 young pianists will perform and compete for cash prizes at the Mechanics Institute in Shepparton.
This year Bernstein Piano Awards for young pianists is providing a competition where young students (three different levels) will perform on Sunday August 2, from 10am to 3pm.
They are competing for cash prizes awarded by Bernstein Pianos and Bernie Capicchiano from Bernie’s Music Land, and second prizes awarded by the Australian National Piano Award.
The winner of each level will also be invited to compete in Melbourne at the Bernstein Finals in October.
Sunday 2nd August is the main competition day with the adjudicators from the Team of Pianists giving their feedback and awarding prizes at the conclusion of each section.
We extend a welcome to those who would like to hear these young performers at the Mechanics Institute, 227 Wyndham Street, Shepparton.
Admission is free and the session commencement times are:
Saturday 1pm - all levels
Sunday 10am - Foundation, 1pm, - Intermediate, 2.30pm – Advanced
However, students of any level who are unable to attend on Sunday 2nd may perform in a session on the afternoon of Saturday 1st. The adjudicators will reserve their reports to be judged along with the other competitors on Sunday.
The levels for the competition are determined by AMEB (or equivalent) grades regardless of a student’s age, that is Foundation (Preliminary to grade 2), Intermediate (Grade 3 to 5) and Advanced (Grade 6 and above).
