Nicolas Margarit is currently based in Madrid and studying at the Reina Sofia School of Music, initially with the late Dmitri Bashkirov and currently with Milana Chernyavska and Claudio Martínez Mehner. In 2019, 2020 and 2024, Queen Sofía of Spain presented him with a Diploma awarded to the most outstanding student.

From the age of three, Nicolas started his piano education with Joyce Bennett OAM in Brisbane. He also studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music in the United Kingdom with Ruth Nye and received scholarships from the Fundación Albeniz and the Australian Music Foundation.            

Nicolas has received many accolades, including first prize at the 2019 Young Piano Performers Competition of Catalonia. He is mentored by a range of musicians, including Andreas Staier, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Robert Levin and Eldar Nebolsin.

Performing in recitals throughout Australia and Europe, Nicolas offered his first concert at the age of four at the Queensland Conservatorium.

As a soloist, Nicolas has performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Brisbane Pops Orchestra. He has also played at the Marvão International Music Festival in Portugal, the Festival de Música Antigua de Úbeda y Baeza in Spain and the Australian Piano Duo Festival.
