Samuel Hill completed his Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and is currently undertaking his Honours in Performance under Glenn Riddle.
While at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Samuel has collaborated with emerging composers, premiered new works for small ensembles, performed in student-led concerts and recorded music for an exhibition at the Grainger Museum. This reflects his interest in promoting human connection by collaborating across different instruments, genres and mediums.
Samuel’s music experiences have developed his passion for performing alongside singers. He has performed in a number of new vocal works, including Hayden Taylor’s micro-opera Before The Law and Liam King’s vocal quartet Snake.
Since 2016, Samuel has taught a range of students in piano, composition and improvisation. He enjoys developing student creative processes, critical thinking and individual musical voices.
Samuel performs solo recitals that feature less-heard music from the 20th and 21st centuries. He continues to shape his artistic practice by championing under-performed works and composers. He enjoys exploring new and old works and placing them in fresh and interesting contexts.
