Simón Pazos Quintana

Simón Pazos Quintana is a Spanish-born, Adelaide-based pianist, accompanist and teacher. He holds an Honours Degree of Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance – Piano) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Performance-based Research) from the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide, where he studied with Professor Stefan Ammer. His doctoral research centred on the piano works of Aleksandr Mosolov and received a Dean's Commendation.
In 2018, Simón made his concerto debut with the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat major, Op 73 (Emperor). Later that year, he was awarded the Peter Schodde Memorial Piano Scholarship, which he used to travel throughout Germany, Austria and England to study with leading professors and performers.
Simón was a finalist in the Geoffrey Parsons Award for piano accompaniment in 2019, 2021 and 2023, and received First Prize and the Special Set Work Prize in 2025. He accompanies classes, examinations and festivals at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, where he also teaches piano as part of the Open Music Academy, and appears regularly in the Recitals Australia Lunchtime Series.
As a solo recitalist, Simón has performed works by Mosolov at the 2024 Adelaide PianoLab festival and gave a solo recital as part of the Elder Conservatorium Lunchtime Concert Series in 2025. He performed Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 5 in F major, Op. 103 (Egyptian) with the Burnside Symphony Orchestra in 2025 and Janáček's Capriccio for Piano Left-Hand with the Adelaide Wind Orchestra in 2024.
