ngzhen Mu completed her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in piano performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Dr Bernadette Harvey. She received the Associate of Music, Australia (AMusA) Piano Diploma with Distinction in 2018 and the Licentiate of Music, Australia (LMusA) Piano Diploma in 2019, and was awarded an HSC Music Encore Nomination at the Sydney Opera House in 2019.
During her studies, Mengzhen received several scholarships, including the Dorothy Ryder-Phillips Award (2023) for achieving the highest mark in piano recitals, the George and Margaret Henderson Scholarship (2024), the David and Nhilla Dumbrell Scholarship (2024) and the Kathleen and Allison Short Scholarship (2025). As a collaborative pianist, she received First Prize at the Sydney Conservatorium Sonata Duo Competition and was selected to participate in a regional tour of Australia in 2024.
Mengzhen was awarded a scholarship to attend the Music at Château d'Aix festival in France, where she studied with Paul Roberts, Stefan Bojsten and Lafki Karpodini. She was a finalist in the Sydney Conservatorium piano concerto competition in each of four consecutive years from 2022 to 2025, performing concertos by Liszt, Beethoven and Bartók. She has performed solo and chamber music at the Sydney Town Hall, Verbrugghen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Weifang Concert Hall and Qingdao Concert Hall.
