Rachel Shindang is completing a Diploma of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying piano and chamber music with Glenn Riddle.
Born in South Korea and based in Melbourne, Rachel received an Associate of Music, Australia (AMusA) and Licentiate of Music, Australia (LMusA) from the Australian Music Examinations Board.
In 2023, Rachel received the Katharine Ellis Memorial Fund Scholarship. She received first prize in the Boroondara Eisteddfod Piano Concerto Competition, the Scotch College Piano Festival and the Victorian College of the Arts Outstanding Soloist Competition.
In 2021, Rachel was a semi-finalist in the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition. Her other accolades include the Margaret Schofield Memorial Prize for a Performance of the Music of Chopin, the Anne Kantor Encouragement Award in the Great Romantics Competition at Melbourne Recital Centre and the Kault Piano Prize presented by Victorian Music Teachers' Association.
An experienced soloist, Rachel has performed concertos by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Chopin with the Preston Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Orchestra.
